Study pinpoints factors affecting RP domestic airlines’ profitability
In a study published in the Journal of Applied Business Research, Dr. Wilfred S. Manuela examines the factors affecting airline profits in the Philippines between 1995 and 2009. Included in the study are Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific Air, Air Philippines (now Airphil Express) and Asian Spirit (now Zest Airways).


PhD student’s review connects capillary electrophoresis and natural products analysis
An extensive research done by Department of Chemistry PhD student Heide R. Rabanes together with advisers Dr. Armando M. Guidote of the Ateneo de Manila University and Dr. Joselito P. Quirino of the University of Tasmania, Australia, reveals that capillary electrophoresis is fast becoming popular for the analyses of natural products. Rabanes’ review paper entitled “Capillary electrophoresis of natural products: Highlights of the last five years (2006-2010)” is included in the special issue on reviews in the January 2012 edition of the journal Electrophoresis.


Ateneo physicists use Clifford algebra to describe polarized light
Ateneo physics faculty member Adler Aaron G. Santos, together with co-authors Dr. Quirino Sugon, Jr, and Fr. Daniel J. McNamara, SJ, used an unconventional mathematics to describe polarized light: Geometric Algebra. Their work was recently published in the Journal of the Optical Society of America A.
