Brion is UMPIL’s Gawad Pambansang Alagad ni Balagtas for 2012
 

Dr. Rofel G. Brion, a professor at the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies, School of Humanities, is this year's recipient of the Gawad Pambansang Alagad ni Balagtas from the Unyon ng Manunulat sa Pilipinas (UMPIL).

 The Gawad Pambansang Alagad ni Balagtas is given yearly to respected writers in Filipino who are consistent achievers in their field and have devoted their lives and energies toward developing Filipino literature and educating others on it.

The awarding ceremonies will be held on August 25, 2012 at the Silangan Hall of the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
