ATC - Ateneo Teacher Center

The Ateneo Teacher Center (ATC) is a support arm of the Education Department which envisions to serve the Philippine education system by conducting retraining programs for teachers in basic education. Its mission is to empower education practitioners through an understanding of their profession and vocation. It aims to upgrade the skills of educators by conducting seminars and workshops in various areas of the basic education curriculum, as well as in school-related concerns like administration, supervision, guidance and counseling.

The seminar-workshops of the ATC are modular in form. While the modules are specifically meant to answer the practical needs of teachers and the school staff, some of these are meant for continuing professional education. The modules with graduate catalogue numbers of the Education Department may be taken for graduate credits.

Since its inception, the ATC has responded vigorously and actively to the need of the country to retrain teachers in basic education. The ATC has conducted Teacher Retraining Outreach Programs for teachers in English, Filipino, Mathematics and Science in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Most of these outreach programs were in cooperation with the other Ateneos. It has also helped many schools develop their faculty development programs.
